Post-Acute Sequela of COVID-19 (PASC) occurs after recovery from the initial illness may be triggered by autonomic dysfunction. The Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) was noted in some of the 24 studied subjects of this case control study. Serum was tested for autoantibodies in controls and POTS patients. You can see in the chart, that PASC related POTS patients had higher levels of adrenergic alpha1, adrenergic beta 2, muscarinic M4, angiotensin 2 and endothelin receptors than the control group. This suggests a potential autoantibody mediated mechanism in PASC patients with POTS. For more information, please have a look at: this.
